PALLIATIVE CARE FOR DIGNITY IN OLD AGE: Addressing the Needs of Older People in Long-Term Care Facilities in Europe
Based on consultations organised with older people and people with dementia and their carers, the Palliative Care for Older People in Care and Nursing Homes in Europe (PACE) project has resulted in important recommendations for policy and decision-makers to ensure the implementation of accessible and quality palliative care.

Interview
1. 'Changing attitudes to palliative care for older people' - Anne-Sophie Parent's and Lieve Van den Block’s interview in Impact - Multidisciplinary Health Research May 2017
In May 2017, an article about the (targeted) impact of the PACE project appeared in the international magazine of Science Impact Ltd, an edition titled ‘multidisciplinary health research’. The magazine is printed in English (https://impact.pub/ ) and contains articles on changing the attitudes to palliative care for older people, patient-centred cancer care, but also on biases in clinical trials, rare diseases and wellbeing.
Project coordinator Lieve Van den Block (VUB) and partner leads Bregje Onwuteaka-Philipsen (VUMC) and Anne-Sophie Parent (Age Platform Europe) were interviewed to discuss the challenges ( It is as much about changing the culture of the care homes, as it is the attitudes of individuals within them>) of the project thus far and to voice their opinion on the scientific and practical impact ( The team hopes to gain an understanding of which countries, systems, and practices might be related to higher quality of dying>) of the project.
