Abstract project
Research shows that standard oncology care can significantly benefit from greater active involvement of cancer patients in decisions about their own care, an approach known as patient-centred care. However, due to a lack of implementation methods, patient-centred care has not been integrated into clinical routine to this day.
Funded by the EU’s Horizon Europe programme, the MyPath research project will develop a novel digital solution, MyPath, consisting of electronic patient-centred care pathways – custom-made for each individual patient, including real-time communication of symptoms and care preferences.
The solution will be implemented systematically in cancer care by investigating, improving, and adapting to organisational contexts of cancer centres across Europe. By doing so, MyPath will translate the proven concept of patient-centred care into an integrated practical reality in oncology.
The ambition of MyPath is to establish integrated and efficient patient-centred care that is respectful of, and responsive to, individual patient preferences, needs, and values.
