Ruth Piers

MD, PhD - Geriatrician

Ruth Piers, MD works as geriatrician at the Ghent University Hospital. She finished her PhD concerning end-of-life care in the acute hospital in 2011. Her current research is focusing on the role of the ethical climate and interdisciplinary collaboration on the quality of patient care. She recently got supported by the King Baudouin Foundation for developing practical tools to help clinicians in end-of-life decision-making. In the past, she got awarded from the European Society of Intensive Care Medicine and the Belgian Association for Gerontology and Geriatrics for research aiming to improve the quality of end-of-life care for the geriatric patient.
