Romy Van Rickstal graduated summa cum laude as a Master of Science in Clinical Psychology at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel in 2017. In October of the same year, she joined the end-of-life care research group as a doctoral researcher. The following year, Romy was granted a PhD mandate Strategic Basic Research from the Research Foundation Flanders (FWO). She defended her doctoral dissertation on "advance care planning in young-onset dementia: perspectives of people with dementia, family caregivers and physicians" in May 2023 and currently works as scientific staff at the research group.
