Lara Pivodic is Assistant Professor at the EOLC Research Group of Vrije Universiteit Brussel & Ghent University and a Senior Postdoctoral Fellow of the Research Foundation – Flanders (FWO). She holds a PhD in Medical Sciences from Vrije Universiteit Brussel and an MSc in Psychology from the University of Vienna. Lara’s interests include epidemiological and intervention research, as well as policy analyses to improve care in the last phase of life, particularly in older populations. Her research, situated at the intersection of health and social sciences, examines care and illness trajectories using quantitative and qualitative methods and strives to develop effective healthcare interventions for the last phase of life of older people affected by serious chronic illness. Lara completed her PhD as a European Commission-funded Marie Curie PhD Training Fellow. As part of this project, she joined King’s College London’s Cicely Saunders Institute as a Visiting Research Associate. Her previous personal research grants include Postdoctoral Fellowships of the Research Foundation – Flanders and the AXA Research Fund. Lara is a member of Jonge Academie (Young Academy of Sciences) of Belgium and a recipient of the Early Researcher Award of the European Association for Palliative Care, which she received for her contributions to cross-national research in palliative care.
