Lara Pivodic is Assistant Professor at the EOLC Research Group of Vrije Universiteit Brussel & Ghent University. She holds a PhD in Medical Sciences from Vrije Universiteit Brussel and an MSc in Psychology from the University of Vienna. Lara’s interests include epidemiological and intervention research, as well as policy analyses to improve palliative care across the illness continuum, particularly in older populations. She is experienced in working with population-based health data, longitudinal data, and cross-national data to study care towards the end of life, as well as in developing and evaluating palliative care programmes through randomised controlled trials. Lara completed her PhD as a European Commission-funded Marie Curie PhD Training Fellow. As part of this project, she joined King’s College London’s Cicely Saunders Institute as a Visiting Research Associate. Her previous research grants include Postdoctoral Fellowships of the Research Foundation – Flanders (FWO) and the AXA Research Fund. Lara is a member of Jonge Academie (Young Academy of Sciences) of Belgium and a recipient of the Early Researcher Award of the European Association for Palliative Care, which she received for her contributions to cross-national research in palliative care.
