Degefaye Zelalem ANLAY obtained a master's degree in Epidemiology (University of Antwerp, 2021). In July 2022, he joined the End-of-Life Care Research Group at Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) as a doctoral researcher. His research focusses on deprescribing at the end of life. Using big data, his project looks to measure the effect of changes in medication use (i.e. initiation of beneficial medications and deprescribing of medications with questionable benefits) on quality of life, mortality, and morbidity at the end of life in a cohort of nursing home residents with limited life expectancy.
